Marine Waste Management

Offshore and shipping operations generate a wide variety of waste. As per the new rules from IMO (International Maritime Organization), waste management is required to apply to vessels offshore. Besides rules and regulations, many international organizations encourage ship owners and operators to make effort to reduce waste on board so as to lessen the negative impact to the offshore environment, by means of providing discounts on port dues, charter preferences, lower insurance premiums etc.

With the trend of an environmental friendly operation on board, nowadays more and more balers are installed on ships for handling daily generated solid waste. Marine balers from SINOBALER are designed especially for this application. Sinobaler offers standard, water proof and explosion proof grades for your choice. Every type of marine baler is within standard dimensions of doorways with small footprint and below certain height because we understand that space on board is by nature limited.

Sinobaler marine balers are able to compress most, if not all waste on-board such as Paper, Cardboard, Plastic Bottles, Packaging Materials, Tin Cans and Empty Paint Tins etc. With a compaction ratio of up to 12:1, these machines can drastically reduce waste volume which can minimize waste management cost by the same ratio. This means it takes just a few weeks after buying balers for the ship owner to see a return on the investment.

Plastic Bottle Recycling

Plastic product is one of the most popular and useful materials of modern life. Nowadays we use about 20 times more plastic than we did 50 years ago. Plastic bottle is one kind of plastics that is greatly used in our daily life and that can be recycled. According to relevant statistics, in the USA, 40 billion plastic bottles are produced each year and mostly are for beverages. Two-thirds of them end up in landfills. In UK, people use 15 million plastic bottles a day, and 94% of all UK local authorities offer collection facilities for plastic bottles either through household recycling collection or at recycling centers.

For the good of environment and save energy, however, we can reuse and recycle them as many times as possible to optimize its lifespan. For example, reuse the waste plastic bottles to be flowerpot, pencil holder, room decoration, and light decoration by cutting, spray painting on the waste plastic bottle. Use your imagination, you will have many ideas to create new ways for reusing the waste plastic bottles to be a new and creative thing.

Other than reuse, waste plastic bottles can be recycled by some industrial process and then create new plastic which can reduce the amount of the solid waste going to landfill, reduce the energy consumption, and reduce the emission of gases like carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

How the waste plastic bottles are recycled?
1. Sort- sorting can be manually or automatically to make sure all the contaminates are removed.
2. Compress the bottles into bales by using Hydraulic Baling Machine. (For example, Sinobaler Long Stroke Baler is a good choice for baling such plastic bottles). Compressed bales are easier to transport and storage.
3. Shred into small flakes and wash
4. Melt
5. Pelletize
6. Make new bottles or other products such as textile fibers.

Start recycling now from your daily life and make contributions to the world although it seems very little thing.
